The majority of our recovery transporters are slide beds which means the transporter slides hydraulically
off the chassis and meets the road to load the vehicle. The angle of these slide beds does not exceed five degrees,
so sports car with low spoilers are unlikely to get damaged. All the functions, including the
winch, are hydraulically operated.
Every transporter has a second car lift which is used for suspended towing or alternatively as an adapter
to tow a trailer or machinery plant.

Catering on the move
This Catering trailer was being towed along the M4 in Reading when the driver of the tow
vehicle was overtaken by his own trailer! The A frame broke away and allowed the trailer to uncouple.
Unfortunately the brakes were so bad out of adjustment that the break-away cable did not have any effect on
applying the brakes. Luckily it hit no one and we were called to recover the very awkward trailer as it
had only 3" of ground clearance.

Planting in the front garden
This little Ford KA was overtaking when a vehicle appeared in front of it, causing it to
swerve out of control and flip over, landing in some-one's front garden. Amazingly the driver had only bruising
injuries. We Hiab lifted from over the front of the cab and cleaned up the front lawn. |
