Recovery Services

Based at Alton, Hampshire, our 24 hour Control Room is manned with experienced staff to receive incident information Watching our every move from motoring organisations to provide rescue and recovery services as required. Incident data, from the member's club, passes over a radio link into our control room computer system. Combining this data with our rescue vehicle tracking facilities, JD Motors allocates appropriate resources to provide a rapid response at a distressing time.

The rescue vehicles are constantly tracked using DigiCore's Vehicle Tracking and Fleet Management System, with the vehicle movements and timings retained to create comprehensive reports that will identify any areas for future improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and meet future legislative requirements.

JD Motors recovery vehicles can easily reach the A3 Guildford to Hindhead within five minutes, and the A31 Guilford to Winchester within ten minutes. However JD Motors recovery vehicles are strategically placed across the region at peak times to reduce arrival time to an incident.

A roadside repair will be attempted, but where this is not possible the vehicle will be taken to a requested destination or brought back to our premises in Mill Lane, Alton. If the owner is not present, an inventory of personal items found inside the vehicle will be made before being bagged and stored in a security cage to await eventual collection. Delivery of vehicle to customer JD Motors keeps recovered vehicles within their secure compound or building premises until their fate is decided. Both areas are under 24 hour surveillance using CCTV.

If the vehicle is worthy of repair, the insurance company arranges for removal to an approved body shop but if considered beyond economical repair, it will probably be collected by a salvage agent such as Universal Salvage for scrap.

Recovery, storage and disposal costs are meet by the vehicle owner's insurance company, except where third party cover is in force. In this case the owner is totally responsible for all administration and storage costs. As these charges mount up very quickly, it is advisable to swiftly decide on the vehicle's fate to minimise fees. Sometimes, with non fault accidents, Vision Vehicle Solutions is able to settle outstanding recovery and storage charges and perhaps supply a courtesy car.
